Let’s get real for a moment… 🤨

Sometimes those darker, rainier days can get us a bit down at times.

As a personal trainer, physical health is a real focus of mine. For myself and clients.

But I am also very aware of our mental health too. I’m very passionate about helping people get their healthy balance. Both with their bodies and minds.

I want to make sure everyone is doing their best to look after themselves going forwards!

Autumn brings cooler weather, golden foliage all around, shorter daylight hours, nature slowing its pace a little.

This time of year is a shift in season, and potentially with it, also our base energy levels too. This is all natural of course and we should not feel like there’s “something wrong with me”.

However, let’s be aware that our energy might not be exactly what it is in the peak summer months for example. And that’s okay!

Let me ask you 📝😁:

Are you moving your body frequently day-to-day?

Getting outside as much as you can, rain or shine?

Keeping social connections with people important to you at levels which are maintainable?

Then you’re doing a great job with your healthy lifestyle this season!

For me, autumn is a time where the world “contracts”; like a muscle with a resistance. 🔩💪

A slight slowing down and absorption of our surroundings.

In nature, the leaves fall, their energy is absorbed back into the soil, then stored back to the tree they fell from. In winter things will pause, with spring new growth will begin, by summer life is expanded and abundant.

Regarding my training, autumn is a time to keep moving with consistency. Not necessarily aiming for new records every workout(!), but instead looking at frequency of movement to keep my body present and mind clear of clutter. Kind of like sweeping the garden of leaves. 🍂😉

Let’s keep moving our bodies, it’s what they’re designed to do. All the while, keep our focus on consistency for our physical and mental health benefits.

Things I do for my “mental (health) training” in Autumn:

+ Exercise! - Any way you want! 🏃‍♀️🤸🏋️‍♀️

+ Outside time in nature – Grab a coat, rain or shine. 🍂🥾

+ Getting as much daylight as possible – Little and often if need be. 🌤️

+ Spending quality time with people – De-teching is best. 🗣️💬

+ Setting realistic routines for myself – And sticking with them. 📝🏆

+ Making the most of the evenings – Doing seasonal projects or events, or a new hobby. 🌕🏓🍝🚶‍➡️🪚

Every season has its own unique experience. Let’s all wrap up, get out there and enjoy.
